On August 9, 2011, after a short battle with liver cancer, I sent Cheyenne ahead of me to the Rainbow Bridge.  I hope she found Kal-El and Akela and is back to keeping them in line, as she did here on earth.  Cheyenne was a great little dog, who made such a huge impact on my life.  She introduced me to agility, and for that, I will forever be indebted to her.  I can only hope that she knew how much she meant to me.
It well may be
That we will never meet again
In this lifetime
So let me say before we part
So much of me
Is made of what I learned from you
You'll be with me
Like a handprint on my heart
And now whatever way our stories end
I know you have re-written mine
By being my friend...

Like a ship blown from its mooring
By a wind off the sea
Like a seed dropped by a skybird
In a distant wood
Who can say if I've been changed for the better?
But because I knew you

Because I knew you

I have been changed for good
And so, I am glad
Not that she is gone
But that the earth she lived and walked upon
Was my earth too
and that her I'd known
and love I'd shown.
Tears? Oh, yes,
but then a smile
That I had walked with her a little while.

As much as I loved the life we had and all the time we played,
I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade.
I saw a wondrous image then of a place that's trouble-free
Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.
I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, and on the other side
Where meadows rich and beautiful -- lush and green and wide!
And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see
were animals of every sort as healthy as could be!
My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new
And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do.
I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I"m alright
That this place is truly wonderful, the bright Glow pierced the night.
Twas the Glow of many Candles shining bright and strong and bold
And I knew then that it held your love in its brilliant shades of gold.
For although we may not be together in the way we used to be
We are still connected by a cord no eye can see.
So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart
If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart
Chey, you were one of a kind and a great teacher.  Thank you so much for choosing me.  You were a good girl and we miss you.
