This is the life....
This is Lonya!  She is a Mudi (a herding breed), imported from Hungary in March 2009.  She was born on December 16. 2008.  She is currently about 17.5 inches tall and weighs about 25 lbs.  Lonya is a black merle Mudi, with very small flecks of blue in each eye.   She has a natural bobbed tail.  She is my first Mudi, and I really am taken in by her!  She is very very smart and has taken to the clicker really quickly.  She will give me lip if she gets confused, but she'll still try, even while she's barking at me.  She isn't overly barky, though is more so then the shepherds.

Lonya has been shown in UKC conformation.  She is the 3rd Mudi to be crowned a UKC Champion!  She was only shown 2 weekends, and had to place in group for her wins, as she was the only Mudi at the show.

She is also in training for agility.  We've done a few trials to get her feet wet and let her know she can do agility anywhere!  She's been in a few CPE trials, and has a few level 2 legs.  She also has shown twice in UKC agility and has already earned her UAG1 title!  She also has one leg toward her UAG2 title.  We'll start up again in the fall and we'll see where she goes!  She's going to be a fun fast dog to run.   Her agility photos are located HERE!

Lonya got to meet sheep for the first time in Dec 2009.  She was a natural!  She really enjoyed herding and I hope to get her instinct test this fall.  She was certainly a natural, though I definitely am not.  We will be taking the AKC herding instinct test in September.
Lonya has also earned her Canine Good Citizenship.  She did very well on the test, with only a whimper or two during supervised seperation.

I do hope to breed Lonya down the line, pending all of her health tests.  So far, Lonya has had her first CERF exam, in Dec 2009, which showed no abnormalities.  I plan to get her CERF again in Dec 2010, along with her OFA x-rays.  Provided all her health tests are good, I'll begin the process of finding a suitable mate.  The Mudi is still pretty uncommon in the US but I hope that we can get some more people interested in this unique breed!
